Russian Internet Governance Forum postponed until fall 2020

The Organizing Committee of the 11th Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF 2020) decided to postpone the event until the fall of 2020, following an announcement issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and with a view to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, protect the health, rights and interests of the forum guests, participants and citizens of the Russian Federation, and taking into account the recommendations made by the WHO, the Moscow City Government, and travel restrictions enforced by international and Russian organizations.

“RIGF has been held every spring for the last ten years, being one of the largest national internet governance forums and an example for many other countries. We deeply regret that we will have to change the traditional spring format this year, as RIGF is usually held on April 7, the anniversary of the Russian country top-level domain .RU. Circumstances are sometimes stronger than us, but I really do hope that the situation changes soon, and that we will be able to meet again this fall and continue to work together in the usual format,” said Andrei Vorobyov, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.

The new date for the 11th Russian Internet Governance Forum will be announced later. Follow our updates.
