Vlad Ivanets is a media researcher and a practising journalist with significant experience in writing, content management and events organization. In 2019, he completed his postgraduate (aspirantura) studies in Journalism at Saint Petersburg State University. In addition, he has a Bachelor’s degree in Philology (Belgorod State University, 2014) and a Master’s degree in Journalism (Saint Petersburg State University, 2016).
Since 2014, he has worked as a reporter and editor for local NGOs and independent Russian online media (Novaya Gazeta, Boomaga, Luna.Info, etc.). And for the last couple of years – as a PR and content manager for companies operating in creative industries (Palma Creative Space, Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines, Message to Man Film Festival, etc.).
In addition to journalism, his academic and personal interests have always focused on the functioning of civil society, freedom of speech and digital space regulation. At the end of 2019 he gained his first insights into Internet Governance, becoming one of the first alumni of the online course 'Introduction to Internet Governance' by the independent educational institution Free Moscow University.
Since then, he has been active in various Internet Governance initiatives at regional and international levels (EuroDIG, SEEDIG, Youth Board of CCTLD.RU, RIGF, etc.). In 2021, he presented a youth generation report on the ‘Inclusive Internet Governance ecosystem and Digital Cooperation’ at the global Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Poland. And in the summer 2022, he organised the Youth Dialogue on Internet Governance (YouthDIG) in Italy and participated as a fellow in the European Summer School on Internet Governance (EuroSSIG) in Germany.
