Igor Pozdeyev

Head of the Udmurt Institute of History, Language, and Literature, Udmurt Federal Research Center, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences

In 2001, Igor graduated from the History Department of the Korolenko Glazov State Teachers’ Training Institute with a major in teaching history, and obtained a Master’s degree in law from the Udmurt State University in 2015. In 2005, he received a PhD degree with his thesis titled Ethnic Socialization Challenges Based on the Udmurt Ethnic Group’s Example. Igor has published over 100 research works, including two books and three educational titles.

In his research, Igor focuses on studying ethnic, religious and linguistic processes in the Ural and Volga regions, as well as individual socialization, migrant integration, inter-ethnic relations between migrants and the host community, as well as manifestations of extremism.

Igor has been a long-standing member of the Public Advisory Council at the Regional Federal Migration Service’s Department for the Republic of Udmurtia, and has been serving on the Board of the Ministry for Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Udmurtia since 2017. Igor is also member of the Expert Council for the Identification, Study, Use, Preservation, Updating, and Promotion of the Intangible Ethnic Heritage of the Republic of Udmurtia.
